Description

1.      The Federal Democratic of Ethiopia currently owns 100% equity of the following Share Companies/Enterprises.

2.      The Government intends to sell at least 51% ownership of these Companies/Enterprises to an investor or a group of investors ready and capable of operating and developing the companies.

3.      The Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Authority (PPESA), pursuant to the power and duties vested in it by Article 6 of Proclamation No. 412/2004, hereby, invites all prospective investors to submit bids for the practical or total acquisition of one or more of the following companies/Enterprises.

1. Akaki Garment Share Company                     Addis Ababa

2. Addis Garment Share Company                      Addis Ababa

3. Nazareth Garment Share Company                 Nazareth

4. Dire Dawa Textile Factory                             Dire Dawa

5. Combolcha Tannery Share Company              Combolcha

6. Ethiopian Canvas and Rubber Shoes Factory   Addis Ababa

7. Awassa No. 2 Hotel (Wabishebelle Hotel Branch)   Awassa

4.      The bid documents will be available in Room No. 504 of the privatization and Public Enterprise Supervising Authority, Bole Road, in The Ethiopian Investment Commission Building, 5^th Floor starting August 5, 2005.

5.      Except for the branch hotel, all are open for local as well as foreign investors. Foreign investors can also bid for the Hotel, which a condition that is should be upgrading to a star level after acquisition.

6.      Interested bidders can obtain documents during working hours upon payment of non-refundable Birr 300 or the equivalent in U.S. dollars for each set of document.

7.      Bidders shall submit bid bond in accordance with the Instruction to Bidders.

8.      Bids shall be submitted in wax-sealed envelopes on or before Monday, October 10, 2005 at 5:00 P.M.

9.      The bids shall be opened on the same day, Monday, October 10, 2005 at 5:30 P.M. local time in Room No. 504, at the same address stated above under No. 7.

10.   The Authority reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
