Description

1.      The Ethiopian Roads Authority invites registered contractors of Category GC-1 or RC-1 with their professional and trade license valid at least for the year 1997 E.F.Y and registered for VAT to submit sealed bids for providing the necessary labor, materials and equipment for Serdo-Afdera-Afrarhaik Road Upgrading Project Contract 1: Km. 0+000 to Km. 90+000.  The Serdo-Afdera-Afrarhaik Road is located in the North Eastern Part of Ethiopia on the Afar Regional State.

2.      The work under this contract consists of construction of the road to Asphalt Concrete standard and construction of minor and major drainage structures.  The Government, in line with its strategy to build the capacity of the Domestic Construction Industry in major Asphalt Concrete works, has decided to undertake this project through National Competitive Bidding.

4.      The bidding document is prepared in English language and can be purchased by interested bidders as of December 12, 2005 at the above office upon presentation of the document mentioned under item (1) above and a written application to the Engineering Services Procurement, Design and Technical Support Division of ERA and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 750.

5.      Bidders shall submit two envelopes, “Qualification Questionnaires” and “Bid and a Bid security”, separately and should be sealed in an outer envelope.

6.      Evaluation is to be carried out in two stages, Qualification applications first and bids of qualified bidders next.

7.      All bids must be accompanied by a security in the form and amount specified in the bidding documents, and must be delivered to:
