1.      This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 590 of September 2002.

2.      The Federal Government of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association towards the cost of Energy Access Project. It is  intended that part of the proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the Contract for Grid Based Rural Electrification Component.

3.      The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and installation of two  new outdoor 230/33 kV, 24/30 MVA Substation at Nefas Mewicha and Gashena towns by tapping the existing 230 kV Bahir Dar- Alamata transmission line and 132/33 kV extension at Sabata Substation in Addis Ababa.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guide-lines.

6.      A complete set of  bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested eligible bidders on the submission of a written application to the address stated above and upon payment of a non-refundable  fee of Ethiopian Birr 1, 500 (One Thousand Five Hundred) or its equivalent in a freely-convertible currency, for each set.

7.      Bids must be delivered to the address stated in 5 above at or before 11:30 Hours local time on April 11, 2005. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 3% of bid price in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.

8.      Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 14:30 hours local time on April 11, 2005.
