1.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has received a grant from the Italian  Government towards the cost of Health Sector Development Program and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the contract for the procurement of Medical Equipment as defined in the World Bank Guidelines and according to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requirements.

2.      The Ministry of Health (MOH) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of:-

3.      The bid will be conducted through International Competitive Bidding procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines and according to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requirements. The Bid is open to all eligible bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the World Bank guidelines.

4.      A Complete set of bidding documents in English Language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 150 (ETB) if locally purchased, or EURO 30.00 or equivalent in any freely convertible currency if purchased from abroad. This cost (EURO) includes the expenses for sending bid document/s by courier service to overseas bidders. Additional copies can be purchased at same non-refundable fee mentioned above. Delivery of the tender document will be effected after receiving the purchase request and remittance of the said amount tot eh MOH A/C No. 0160101011900 at National Bank of Ethiopia 45 days prior to the bid submission date.

5.      Local Agents and local manufacturers shall provide renewed trade license and Registration Certificate from MOFED and shall indicate their VAT numbers.

6.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents at the Office of Secretary of the Tender Committee, Ministry of Health, PASS, Room No. 1.3, Woreda 3, Kebele 53, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during working hours from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and from 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. from Monday to Friday.

7.      Bid must be delivered to the address below on or before March 31, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. local time  and must be  accompanied by a bid security of not less than 2% of the total bid amount in a form of Bank guarantee, or Certified cheque. The bid security shall be in Ethiopian Birr (ETB) or in any freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the Conference Hall of Ministry of Health, Head Office, Woreda -3, Kebele 53, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 2:30 P.M. on March 31, 2005.
