This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement
Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business.
The Ministry of Health has received a credit from the
International Development Association toward the cost of Health
Sector Development Program, and it intends to apply part of the
proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for
Procurement of Medical Equipment.
Ministry of Health now invites sealed bids from eligible and
qualified bidders for the supply of the Medical Equipment to 248
Health Centers found in 11 Regions of Ethiopia under the following
seven Lots. Bidders have the option to bid for one or more lots.
IV: Medical Refrigerator
V: Laboratory Equipment
VI: Examination, Treatment & Operation Equipment
VII: MCH, Labor & Preparation, Delivery Equipment
will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding
(ICB) procedures specified in the world Bank's Guidelines:
Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credit, and is open to all
bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information

email@example.com, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and inspect the
bidding document at the address given below from 8:30 A.M.-12:30
P.M. and 1:30 P.M.-5:30 P.M. from Monday to Friday.
Technical & Experience-At least two contracts completed
successfully of similar nature and size within the past five years.
Legal-Manufacture's or Supplier's agents/representatives must
submit Renewed Trade License and Registration Certificate in
accordance with the Ethiopian law.
A complement set of bidding document in English language may
be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of written
Application to the address below and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 150 (One Hundred Birr) or USD
15.00 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. The methods of
payment will be in cash, or Cashier's chick, or direct deposit to

Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of
the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person at the
Conference Hall of Ministry of Health, Head Office, Woreda 3, Kebele
53, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 2:30 P.M. September 8, 2005. All bids
must be accompanied by a Bid Security of 2% of the bid amount
including all incidental services or an equivalent amount in a
freely convertible currency.
