1.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) for the implementation of Malaria Prevention and Control Program and part of the proceeds of this grant will be used to eligible payments under the contract for which this invitation to bids is issued.

2.      The Federal Ministry of Health, Pharmaceuticals Administration and Supply Services (PASS) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of: Anti-Malaria Drugs & Laboratory Supplies.

3.      Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the Government Procurement Guidelines and are open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines. Product registration or marketing authorization by the Ethiopian Drug Administration and Control Authority is required for drugs.

4.      The bid evaluation will be conducted on item by item basis and bidders will have the chance to participate for one or for all of the item s for Lot I. For the rest of the lots, the bid evaluation will be conducted on lot by lot basis and bidders will have the chance to participate for one or for all of the lots. Bidders shall quote 100% of the listed items both in kind and quantity under each lot II, III & IV to be eligible for evaluation.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from PASS and inspect the bidding documents at the procurement office No. 1.2 during office hours from the date this advertisement appearance in The Ethiopian Herald.

6.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Eth. Birr 200 or in equivalent USD 25. The method of payment will be cash or certified check. For foreign Bidders the document will be sent by mail and USD 35 for mail cost shall be included.

7.      Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 24th May 2005 at 2:00 P.M. and late bids will be rejected. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security in the amount as specified in the tender document in the form of CPO or Bank Guarantee from International Recognized Bank and shall be Counter Guaranteed by Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. Insurance Bond is not acceptable.

8.      The purchaser reserves the right to reject the bid in full or partially.

9.      Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the address below on 24th May 2005 at 2:30 P.M.
