Notice of Invitation for
Construction of Pile Foundation for Omo River Bridge Project
THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF
ETHIOPIA ETHIOPIAN ROADS AUTHORITY
1.
The Federal Democratic
of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated sufficient budget towards the
construction of pile foundation of Omo River Bridge Project.
2. Omo
River Bridge is located in
the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Administrative
Region.
The works under this contract consists of construction of pile
foundation and piers of Omo River Bridge Project. The foundation
type being cast in situ reinforced concrete piles of diameter 0.6m
and total length of 4400m. The piles are of vertical and buttering
types. As per the design, vertical piles consists of 20m and 35m
long piles, and the buttering ones consist of 20m long piles.
The work involves the following:

Drilling of holes for
concrete piles
®
Retaining of the
drilled holes
®
Setting of
reinforcement bars
®
Preparation of
concrete mix
®
Casting and curing of
concrete for piles and pile cap, piers and piers caps
®
Erection of dowels on
the abutment pile caps to be extended to the piers.
®
Geotechnical
investigation.
And the expected duration of
completion is about 540 calendar days including mobilization period.
3.
The Employer will
evaluate and compare only bids determined to be substantially
responsive to the requirements of the bidding document.
4.
The Ethiopian Roads
Authority invites all contractors fulfilling the following
criteria.
Contractors registered in Ethiopia are required to present:
® A
registration certificate under category 1 from Ministry of
Infrastructure for the drilling and construction of pile foundation.
® Renewed
business license for 1997 Ethiopian Calendar year.
® Registration
certificate for VAT.
Contractors not registered in Ethiopia are required to present:
®
A registration
certificate under category 1 from Ministry of infrastructure for the
drilling an construction of pile foundation.
®
Renewed business
license for 1997 Ethiopian Calendar year.
® Registration
certificate for VAT.
Contractors not registered in Ethiopia are required to present:
® Renewed
contractor's license for 2004 GC by a competent authority.
® Notarized
authentification of the above document.

Interested bidders may
obtain further information and collect the bidding document from
Ethiopian Roads Authority, Engineering Services, Procurement Design
& Technical Support Division Office 2nd floor, Room No. 207, Fax
251-1- 51 48 66, Tel. 251-1- 51 00 52.
6. The
bidding document is prepared in English Language and can be
purchased as of March 7, 2005 on presentation of the required
documents under item # 4 above and on submission of a written
application to the General Manager of ERA and upon payment of
non-refundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 750 (Birr Seven Hundred Fifty)
made payable to Ethiopian Roads authority.
7.
The bid and
qualification document for the subject project should be prepared in
one original and four copies and be submitted to the General
Manager Office, Ethiopian Roads Authority, P.O. Box 1770, Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, Fax 251-1- 51 48 66, Tel. 15 66 03 on or before 26,
April 2005 at local time 2:30 P.M.
8. Bids
will be opened immediately after the closing time for submission.
9. A
bid which is received late, will not be considered.
10. ERA
reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
