1.      The Federal Government of Ethiopia Substations contract a loan from the European Investment Bank in Euro towards the cost of Gilgel Gibe II Power Transmission Project. This international invitation for tenders relates to the contract for the high voltage substations mentioned in paragraph 2 below.

2.     The Ethiopian Electric power Corporation now invites sealed bids from resourceful, competent and experienced firms  for the design, manufacture, testing, supply, transportation to site of all equipment/material, insurance, unloading, storage erection, including associated civil works, testing and commissioning of three substations namely Sebeta II 400 kV and Gilgel Gibe 400 kV substations, and Existing Sebeta 230kV substation extension. Major equipment/materials to be supplied under the package includes 400/230kV, 250 MVA and 230 /132/ 33 kV, 40MVA Auto transformer and 230/33kV , 25 MVA Power transformer, 400 kV  45 MVA Ar Reactors, 400 kV 90 MVA Ar and 230 kV 45 MV Ar Capacitor Banks, Circuit Breakers, Isolators, Current Transformer Capacitive Voltage Transformers, Surge Arrestors, Control & Relay panels, Power  Line Carrier and Optic fiber Communication, Installation Hardware and Insulators, Substation Structures, Auxiliary and Grounding transformers, Battery and Battery Chargers, LT switchgears, Cables, Fire Protection system, Air Conditioning and Ventilation System, etc. the scope of work given above is only indicative. Detailed scope has been described in the bidding documents available for sale. 

3.      Bidding will be conducted to be implemented during the period mid 2005 until end-2007.

4.      Interested bidders may obtain  further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of:

5.      The bid documents shall be available from EEPCo on March 10, 2005 and a complete set of bidding documents (non transferable) in English may be purchased by interested bidders at the address stated above, upon payment of  a non-refundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 1,800 (One Thousand Eight Hundred) or  equivalent in a freely-convertible currency, for  each set during  office hours from 08:00 to 12:00 hours and 13:00 to 17:00 hours, local time, Monday through Friday, on all working days.

6.      Bids must be delivered to the address stated in 4 above before 11:15 hours, local time, on May 9, 2005. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of USD 600,000 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of intending bidders or their representatives who choose to attend at the EEPCo Club, Mexico Square, Addis Ababa at 14:30 hours, local time on May 10, 2005.

7.      The Corporation reserves the right to reject any or all the bidders without assigning reason thereof and is not bound to accept the lowest bid.
