1. This
Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this
Project that appeared in Development Business, issue no.: None
2. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from
the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of
Agricultural Research and Training Project, and it intends to apply
part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract
for the procurement of Books.
3. The
Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute-Agricultural Research and
Training Project now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified
bidders for the supply and delivery of Books. Bidders are required
to quote a technically responsive bid at least for 80% of the line
item. Bidders who have not quoted technically responsive bid for at
least 80% of the line items in the lot, and for 100% of the
quantities for each line item will be considered as incomplete and
rejected as non-responsive.
4. Bidding
will conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement
under IBRO Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from
Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information
from ARTP and inspect the bidding documents at the address given
below from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00A.M.and 2:00-5:00 P.M. (local
time) Monday-Friday.
6. A
complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by
interested bidders as of November 18, 2005 (Monday-Friday: 9:00
A.M.-12 noon and 2:00-5:00 P.M.) on the submission of a written
Application to the address below and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of Birr 400 (Four Hundred) or USD 47 (USD
Forty Severn) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible
currency. The method of payment will be Cash or Cashier Check. The
bidding documents will be sent by first class mail for overseas
bidders who send a Crossed Bank Draft of Birr 460 (Four Hundred
Sixty Birr) or USD 54 (Fifty Four USD) or an equivalent amount
in a freely convertible currency in addition to the price of the
document to the address given below.
7. Bids
must be delivered to the address below at or before 2:00 P.M.
(local time) on January 10, 2006. Electronic bidding will not
be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in
the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in
person at the address below at 2:30 P.M. (local time) on January
10, 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of not
less than 2% of the bid price or an equivalent amount in a
freely convertible currency.
