CARE Ethiopia
is a non-governmental humanitarian organization (NGO), which has
been working in Ethiopia since 1984. It implements numerous relief
and multi-sectoral emergency and development projects in its various
operational areas. The organization currently seeks to hire a
Nutritionist to work primarily for its CTC programs in Grawa and
Dire Dawa.
The purpose of
the Nutritionist Consultant position is to take the lead in CTC and
nutrition-related activities in the CARE project areas of Dire Dawa
and East Hararghe, and to facilitate the implementation of
nutrition-related training in coordination with the Area
Coordinator, Project Managers and MoH counterparts, while assuming
primary responsibility for regular program narrative and statistical
reporting. While these activities will focus almost entirely on
CTC-related activities, the Nutritionist will act, as required, in
support of other program areas such as Early Warning, Monitoring,
Nutrition Surveys and DM & E.
The
Responsibilities of the Nutritionist will include the following:
1.
Facilitating the adoption and translation of training
curriculum/manuals on nutrition counseling and home hygiene;
2. Facilitating
the training, in collaboration with CARE’s CTC staff for CNVs and
MoH health facility staff;
3.
Working with the MoH and government structure to facilitate
CTC and nutrition-related activities and monitoring in the
operational areas;
4. Coordinating
networking with all relevant agencies supporting nutrition programs
to exchange training materials and experience;
5. Developing
strategies for social mobilization in collaboration with the health
agents;
6.
Acting as the responsible agent for collating information and
preparing monthly, quarterly and narrative and statistical reports
and framing the program’s final report, and submit these to his/her
immediate supervisor for review and forwarding via the Addis
Emergency Department to the Donor, as per Implementation Plan
requirements.

expected to develop a detailed project proposal with methodological
steps and timetables. Therefore, individuals or consulting firms

announcement, after reviewing the Terms of Reference for the
assignment, which can be obtained from CARE Ethiopia’s Procurement
