Description

CARE Ethiopia is a non-governmental humanitarian organization (NGO), which has been working in Ethiopia since 1984.  It implements numerous relief and multi-sectoral emergency and development projects in its various operational areas.  The organization currently seeks to hire a Nutritionist to work primarily for its CTC programs in Grawa and Dire Dawa.

The purpose of the Nutritionist Consultant position is to take the lead in CTC and nutrition-related activities in the CARE project areas of Dire Dawa and East Hararghe, and to facilitate the implementation of nutrition-related training in coordination with the Area Coordinator, Project Managers and MoH counterparts, while assuming primary responsibility for regular program narrative and statistical reporting.  While these activities will focus almost entirely on CTC-related activities, the Nutritionist will act, as required, in support of other program areas such as Early Warning, Monitoring, Nutrition Surveys and DM & E.

The Responsibilities of the Nutritionist will include the following:

1.       Facilitating the adoption and translation of training curriculum/manuals on nutrition counseling and home hygiene;

2.      Facilitating the training, in collaboration with CAREís CTC staff for CNVs and MoH health facility staff;

3.      Working with the MoH and government structure to facilitate CTC and nutrition-related activities and monitoring in the operational areas;

4.      Coordinating networking with all relevant agencies supporting nutrition programs to exchange training materials and experience;

5.      Developing strategies for social mobilization in collaboration with the health agents;

6.      Acting as the responsible agent for collating information and preparing monthly, quarterly and narrative and statistical reports and framing the programís final report, and submit these to his/her immediate supervisor for review and forwarding via the Addis Emergency Department to the  Donor, as per Implementation Plan requirements.

Applicants are expected to develop a detailed project proposal with methodological steps and timetables.  Therefore, individuals or consulting firms may participate in this competitive bid by submitting technical and financial proposals to CARE Ethiopia within ten days after this announcement, after reviewing the Terms of Reference for the assignment, which can be obtained from CARE Ethiopiaís Procurement Unit upon payment of ETB 30.  Females are encouraged to apply.

CARE Ethiopia reserves the right to cancel this bid, either fully or partially.
