1.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Agricultural Research & Training Project, and intends to apply for the Supply and Delivery of Laboratory Equipment for Holetta plant Biotechnology Laboratory.

2.      The Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Research and Training Project now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Supply and Delivery of Laboratory Equipment. Bidders must give a technically responsive bid for at least 75% of the items in the lot.

3.      Bidders who have not quoted a technically responsive bid for at least 75% of the items in the lot and for 100% of the quantities for each item will be considered as incomplete and rejected as non-responsive.

4.       Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guide lines.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the project Coordinating Office of ARTP and inspect the bidding documents at the address below from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. –5:00 P.M. (local time) Monday – Friday.

6.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders as of January 24, 2006 (Monday-Friday 9:00 A.M.- 12 noon and 2:00-5:00 P.M.) on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 200 (Two Hundred) or USD 25 (USD Twenty Five) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be cash or Cashier Check. The bidding document will be sent by first class mail for overseas bidders who send a Crossed Bank Draft of Birr 300 (Birr Three Hundred) or USD 35 (USD Thirty Five) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency in addition to the price of the document to the address given below.

7.      Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 2:00 P.M. (local time) on March 13, 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of USD 2, 000 (USD Two Thousand) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders and/or their representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 2:30 P.M. (local time) on March 13, 2006.
