The Ethiopian Bankers Association hereby requests expression of
interests from interested and knowledgeable consulting firms to
undertake a study on two study project on “REAL-ESTATE DEVELOPMENT
IN ETHIOPIA AND THE ROLE OF BANKS” and “ESTABLISHIN A SUSTAINABLE
BUSINESS LINKAGE BETWEEN BANKS AND MICRO-FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
(MFIS)”.
The objective of the consultancy is to undertake the two studies in
accordance with detailed Terms of Reference to be given by EBA for
short-listed firms. The studies are guided by a Steering Committee
formed under EBA.
The selected firm/s is/are expected to make adequate assessment on
the problems facing the real estate sector in Ethiopia, especially
with respect to financing, with a view to identifying major
constraints and recommending possible solutions; on Micro-finance
Instructions (MFIs) operating in Ethiopia on Small and Medium Scale
Enterprises (SMEs) operating in Ethiopia, & on major aspects of
Commercial Banking business in Ethiopia with a view to devising a
workable strategy to establish a sustainable business linkage
between MFIs and Commercial Banks in Ethiopia. Further details on
the scope and objectives of the study are provided in the TORs.
In
sending their expression of interest, consulting firms should
provide information on:
a)
whether they are
registered and qualified to undertake the studies;
b)
Major Studies
undertaken during the past three years clearly indicating he topic
and depth of the study/studies;
c)
The level of
qualification and professional experience of the core staff working
on the present study/studies; and
d)
The date on which the
firm is established.
Selection will be made based on information provided by consulting
firms as mentioned above and in accordance with criteria established
by the body designated by EBA for this purpose. Short listed
candidates will then be contacted and asked to buy the Bid Document,
which contains the TORs for the studies and other details, by paying
non-returnable Birr 100 per study project,. Information on the
details on the bid process will be obtained by pre-qualified firms/s
upon the purchase of the bid document.
Expression of interest must be delivered in person or sent to the
address below not late than July 10, 2006.
