The Ethiopian Federal Government has received a grant of about EURO
14 million from the Government of Germany through KfW
Entwicklungsbank Frankfurt, towards the cost of the above Project.
It is intended that part of the proceeds of this grant will be
applied to the construction of buildings within selected institutes
such as universities involved in TVET teacher training, centers of
competence, and TVET institutes in various regions of Ethiopia.
WEM in cooperation with PLANCO, Hamburg, have been commissioned by
the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Education, Addis Ababa, to prove
consulting services to the Ministry in implementing the Investment
Component of the Ethio-German TVET Programme.
The Ethiopian Federal Government hereby invites all contractors of
category GC/BC IV and above that are registered for VAT and have
renewed license for the year 1998 E.C. to request pre-qualification
documents to qualify for furnishing the necessary labour, materials
and equipment for the construction of TVET Institutions in Adama,
Awassa, Bahir Dar, Mekelle, Jimma, Addis Ababa, Ziway, Shashemene,
Sodo, Mettu and Agaro. These sites are grouped into five major lots
as shown in the table below:

The pre-qualification will be conducted per lot. Contractors can
apply for construction works in one or more lots. The formation of a
joint venture is acceptable, provided a lead partner is designated.
Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information and
acquire the pre-qualification document. A complete set of
pre-qualifications documents in English language may be purchased by
interested applicants on the submission of a written application to
the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of 20
Eth. Birr. An additional fee of 40 Eth. Birr will be charged if the
document is to be sent the bidder by a registered mail. The method
of payment will be by cash or bank transfer to the address below.

All banking charges and fees related to the purchase of the
prequalification documents such as bank transfer shall be the
applicant’s expense. Bank cheques are not acceptable.
Applications for pre-qualifications should be submitted in sealed
envelopes, clearly marked “Application to Pre-qualify for the
construction of TVET Buildings. Application must be delivered at the
address on or before 11:00 hours on 20th of March 2006.
Application will be opened in the presence of
applicants/representatives, who choose to attend at 9:00 hours on 21st
of March 2006. |
