1.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Agricultural Research and Training Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for the Supply, Delivery and Instillation of Furniture-IFB No. HU/ARTP/NCB/22-05/06.

2.      The Haramaya University now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the Supply, Delivery and Installation of furniture.

Bids not offering at least 90% of the items will be treated as incomplete and rejected as non-responsive unless no complete bid is received in which case the purchase will evaluate and award the contract(s) for each item in the tender. For evaluation purpose, the cost of the missing items will be calculated by using the average price of other technically responsive bids.

3.      Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bides from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

4.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Haramaya University Liaison Office and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 A.M. and 1:30 to 5:30 P.M. during working days.

5.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 300 or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be in the form of cashier’s certified or crossed check or a bank draft in favor of the Haramaya University

6.      Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 11:00 A.M. on December 8, 2006. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 11:00 A.M. on December 11, 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of Birr 10,000 or its equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
