Upgrading (Lower Primary Schools)

Description

 

1.      The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has received a loan and a grant from the African Development Fund in UA towards the cost of Education III programs. And intends to apply part of the proceeds of the funds to cover eligible payment under the contract(s) upgrading of 5 Lower Primary Schools in Oromia Region. The names of the schools to be constructed are indicated in the following table. 

2.       The Oromia Regional Education Bureau invited sealed bids from prospective bidders, for the upgrading of any or all of the lower primary schools listed below each constituting a single package/contract. Bidding is open to all contractors in the category GC 6 or BC 6 and above, who have been registered by the Ministry of Works and Urban Development of FDRE and have renewed their license for the currency year 2005/2006. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding document at the following address.

3.      Bidding documents (and additional copies) may be obtained at the Oromia Education Bureau, P.O. Box 8727, Tel. 251 0114 40 13 80, Addis Ababa, Ethiopian upon written application to Plan, Research and Construction Department and payment of non-refundable fee of Eth.  Birr 300 (Three Hundred) for each school and set starting from September 18, 2006 up to November 1, 2006. The provisions in the instruction to bidders and in the general conditions of contract are the provisions of the ADB’s Standard Bidding documents Procurement of Small Works.

4.      Those contracts who are registered to pay VAT must submit copy of the VAT certificate.

5.      Bids can be delivered to or mailed separately to the Oromia Education Bureau, on or before November 2, 2006 at 9:00 A.M. accompanied by a bid security valid for 120 calendar days beyond the date of bid opening. And the bid security amount shall be 20,000 Eth. Birr in Cash or CPO or bank guarantee in sealed envelope with marking “Bid for Tender No.___ and “Site name”. Bidders can participate in more than one bid as their license permits them.

6.      Bid will be opened on the bid closing date as mentioned above at 9:30 A.M. Bids shall be valid for a peered of 90 days after bid opening day.

7.      The Construction for each school should be completed within a maximum of 180 calendar days from the commencement date of the work.

8.      The Oromia Education Bureau reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
