1.      The Ethiopian Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Agricultural Research & Training Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for the Supply, Delivery and Installation of Laboratory equipment and Consumables for Holetta Plant Biotechnology Laboratory.

2.      The Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Research and Training Project now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Supply and Delivery and Installation of Laboratory Equipment and Consumables. Bidders must give a technically responsive bid for at least 75% of the items in the lots.

3.      Bidders who have not quoted a technically responsive bid for at least75% of the items in the lot for 100% of the quantities for each item will be considered as incomplete and rejected as non-responsive.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the project Coordinating Office of ARTP and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. -5:00 P.M. (Local time) Monday to Friday.

6.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders as of September 8, 2006 (Monday-Friday: 9:00 A.M.-12:00 noon and 2:00-5:00 P.M.) on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 200 (Birr Two Hundred) or an equivalent amount in freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be cash or Cashier Check. The Bidding document will be sent by first class mail for overseas bidders who send to cross Bank Draft of Birr 300 (Birr Three Hundred) or an equivalent amount in freely convertible currency in addition to the price of the document to the address given below.

7.       Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 2:00 P.M. (local time) on November 7, 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of USD 8,000 (USD Eight Thousand) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidder’s and/or their representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 2:30 P.M. (local time) on November 7, 2006.
