This invitation for prepublication follows the General Procurement
Notice for this project the appeared in UN Development Business, No,
WB346-696, of January 18, 2007 and on The Ethiopian Herald, VOL.
LXIII, No. 119, of January 27, 2007.
The Government of Ethiopia has applied for financing in the amount
of US$ 35 million equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of
the Ethiopia-Sudan Power Systems Interconnection Project, and it
intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments under the contract
for a contract for the design, supply, instillation and
commissioning of the related transmission liens consisting of:
A
single circuit 230 kV transmission line with 2xASH, AAAC conductor
from the existing Bahir Dare substation to the existing Gonder (Azezo)
substation (137.2km),
Stringing the second circuit with 2xASH, AAAC conductor on existing
towers of a 230 kV transmission line from the existing Gonder (Azezo)
substation to the existing Shehedi substation (120.3 km), and
A
double circuit 230 kV transmission line with 2xLJG ACSR conductor
from the existing Shiehedi substations to the Ethiopian Sudan border
(Metema in Ethiopia and Gallabat in Sudan) (36.5km).
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) intends to pre-qualify
contractors for the above contract prior to the issue of the bidding
documents.
Pre-qualification will be conducted through pre-qualification
procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement
under IBRD Load and IDA Credits, May 2004 and is open to all bidders
from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain information from and inspect
the prequalification documents at the address below (2) from 0900 to
1700 hours. A complete set of prequalification documents in English
may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a
written application to the address below (1) and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of US $ 100. The method of payment will be
cashier’s check or banker’s draft or cash to Corporation’s Account
No. below (3). The document will be sent by special courier for
local addresses, and by courier services for overseas delivery.
Applications for prequalification should be submitted in sealed
envelopes, delivered to the address below (1) by May 25, 2007 before
17:00 hours, and be clearly marked as “Application to Pre-qualify
for the supply and installation of Transmission Facilitates for the
Ethiopia-Sudan Power Systems Interconnection Project”
