The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has applied for financing in the amount of US $ 225 Million equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the APL-III Road Projects and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly fiancé by the Government of Ethiopia.

The Project will include the following components: (I) Construction of new and upgrading of major road projects, and the associated construction supervision (II) Technical assistance services.

Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits (may 2004), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined In the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004).

Specified procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket and The Ethiopian Herald Newspaper.

Prequalification so suppliers and contractors will be required for the following contracts:

a)      Aposto-Wondo-Negele Road Upgrading Project (Asphalt Concrete Standard)

Contract 1: Aposto to km 94+100 (94.1Km)

Contract 2: From km 94 +100 to 202 +560 (108Km)

Contract 3: From km 202+560 to Negele 65.4Km)

b)      Gonder-Debrak Road Upgrading Project (101 Km) (Asphalt Concrete standard)

c)      Gedo-Nekempt Road Project (Asphalt Concrete Standard)

      Contract 1: Gedo to km 64+000 (64 Km0

      Contract 2: From km 64+000 to Nekempt. (70 Km)

     Post qualification of suppliers and contacts will be required for the following contract:

d)      Yalo-Abala Road construction Project, Contract 1: Yalo-Nehille (70 Km). Interested eligible bidders who wish to be included on the milling list to receive invitations to pre-qualify/bid under ICB procedures, and interested consultants who wish to received a copy of advertisement requesting expressions of interest for consultancy contracts, or those requiring additional information, should contact the address below:
