This request for
expressions of interest follows the General Procurement Notice for
this project that was posted on dgMarket on Dec. 09, 2004.
The Government
of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a Credit
from the World Bank towards the cost of Ethiopian Nile Irrigation
and Drainage Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of
the Credit to consultant services.
The overall
objective of the project is to contribute to rural income growth
through increase in area irrigated and effectiveness of existing
irrigated area through investments that are cost effective,
environmentally and socially sound, and beneficial to the rural
poor.
Based on a
previous announcement, consultancy service for Feasibility Studies,
Detail design and Tender Documents Preparation of about 20,000 ha of
irrigation and drainage schemes (at Megech Pump (Seraba), Ribb
(project-financed irrigation and government financed upstream dam)
and Anger Dam) in the Nile Basin of Ethiopia is going to kick off in
few weeks time.
The current
consultancy assignment is to prepare Resettlement Action Plan (RAP)
for affected parties as a consequence of the above mentioned
irrigation and drainage schemes to meet World Bank Standards. The
proposed RAP will ensure that the World Bank safeguard OP 4.12 for
involuntary resettlement are adequately addressed. Environmental and
Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for each scheme are being separately
prepared.
The Ministry of
Water Resources now invites competent consulting firms to indicate
their interest in providing the above services. Interested
Consultants must provide information indicating their professional
capability and experience to perform the services; such information
should include brochures, description of similar assignments,
experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills
among staff, financial capability, etc. Consultants may associate to
enhance their qualifications.
A consultant
will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the
World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants
by World Bank Borrowers May 2004. Consultant will be requited on
International Competitive bidding (ICB) basis. Interested
Consultants may obtain further information at the following address
during office hours from 0830 A.M. to 1730 hours (local time) Monday
to Friday. Written expressions of interest must be delivered to the
address below not later than August 31, 2007.
