Contract Identification No.
1. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has received a loan
from the Africa Development fund in the amount of UA 32.2 million
towards the cost of the Education III project, and intends to apply
part of the proceeds of the loan to cover eligible payments under
contract for the construction of three (3) and upgrade of three (3)
primary schools in the Afar region.
2. The
Afar National region state Education Bureau now invites sealed bids
from Prospective bidders for the construction and upgrading of any
of the primary schools listed below, each constituting a single lot.
Bidding is open to all bidders from eligible member countries as
defined in the ADB’s Rules of procedure for the procurement of Goods
and Works. In case of domestic contractors, it is also open to those
contractors in GC 6 or BC 6 category and above, who have been
registered with the Ministry of Works and Urban Development of FDRE
and have renewed their licenses for the current year 2005/2006.

3. Bidders
can bid for one or more complete lots.
4.
Complete set of bidding documents (and addition one copies)
may be purchased from the Afar National Regional State Education
bureau, Education team, Room No. 7, Tel. 033 666 01 23 at Samara
town upon payment of a non-refundable fee of birr 100 (One Hundred)
or its Equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency for each
set and lot. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further
information and inspect the bidding documents from the above
address.
5. The
instruction to bidders and general conditions of contract contained
in the bidding documents comply with the Bank’s standard bidding
Document for the Procurement of Goods, works, January 2000.
6. Bid
shall be valid for a period of 120 (One Hundred Twenty) calendar
days after the deadline for bid closing and must be accompanied by a
security deposits in the right end column of the above table. The
bid security shall be in local currency (ETB) or its equivalent in
freely currency in the form of bank Guarantee or Cash Payment order
(CPO) issued by a reputable bank which is valid for a period of 28
calendar days beyond the period of bid validity.
7. Bids
shall be delivered to the office of Works and Urban Engineering
Departement Room No. 5, Tel. 033 666 00 02, at Samara town on or
before 10:00 AM local time on 16 October 2007.
8. Bids
will be opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose
to attend on the same Office on 16, October 2007. |
