Project: Afdera-Ababa Road Project, Contract 2: Irebti-Afdera
1. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has
allocated budget towards the cost of Afdera-Abala Road Project,
Contract 2: Irebti-Afdera and intends to apply part of the proceeds
to eligible payments for this Contract.
2. The
Ethiopian Roads Authority has now invites bidders to submit sealed
bids for providing the necessary labor, material and equipment for
the construction of Afdera-Abala Road Project, Contract 2:
Irebti-Afdera which fulfills the following criteria,
In case of Ethiopian bidders, registered contractors of Category
GC-1 or RC-1 with their trade license valid for the year 2000
E.F.Y., registered for VAT and tax clearance certificate.
In case of bidders other than Ethiopian; any relevant professional
practice certificate and its trading license or equivalent.
3. The
road project is located in North Eastern Part of Ethiopia in the
Afar Regional State and the work
under this project consists of construction of 118 km length of the
road to DS4 Standard of Asphalt Concrete Surface. The construction
period is 1260 calendar days.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through the international competitive bidding
procedures specified in the Bidding Documents, and are open to all
bidders as defined the Bidding Documents.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the
bidding documents at the address given below from 8:30 to 12:30 A.M.
and 1:30 to 5:30 P.M. from Mondays to Thursdays and 8:30 to 11:30
A.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Fridays local time. A complete
set of bidding documents prepared in English language may be
purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written
application to the address below and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of ETB 4000 or in USD 450 effective as of
December 6, 2007. The method of payment shall be in cash or direct
deposit to ERA’s account number NBE 0160101011500.

6. Bidders
shall submit two envelopes, “Qualification Application & Bid
Security” in one envelope and “Bid” separately in other envelope and
should be sealed in an outer envelope.
7. Evaluation
is to be carried out in two stages, Qualification Document first and
Bids of qualified bidders next.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before January 31, 2008
at 2:30 P.M. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 2,000.000.00 ETB.
Late bids will be rejected. Qualification Application and Bid
security of the bidders will be opened in the presence of
bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the address below on
the final date and time of bid submission as stated above.
