Water Supply Sanitation Project



1.       The Government of Ethiopia has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of water supply and sanitation hygiene program and intends to apply part of the proceeds for Dagi village rural piped water supply sanitation project by National Competitive Bidding /NCB/ under the contract AWRDB/ RPSS/001/2007terms and conditions.

2.       The AWRDB representing the client Mecha Wereda Administration for tendering process assistance only invitees sealed bids from qualified eligible bidders having grade 6 GC and above with renewed water works licenses from the Ministry of Water Resources to implement Dagi village Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project.

The project encompasses:

i.        Construction of 20 M3 water collection chamber

ii.      Construction of 8m elevated steel tank with a capacity of 30m3 reservoir

iii.    Construction of one standard pump house

iv.    Construction of 5 public fountains.

v.      Supply and lay about 5, 100m class B, GI pipeline with necessary fittings and valves.

vi.    Supply and Installation of surface centrifugal pump and Generator

vii.  Protect from flooding, Fence and sanitize already tapped spring as required

viii. Commission and Hand Over the project to the community

3.       The location of the project is in West Gojjam zone, Merawi Wereda, Amhara region, about 60 km from Bahir Dar town.

4.       Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s procurement guidelines under IDA credits/grants and is open to all eligible national contractors as defined in the guidelines.

5.       Bidders have to provide information about contractor licenses, VAT registration certificates, renewed water works licenses issued from the ministry of Water resources etc.

6.       Interested contactors have to provide information, available constructio tools such as, Vibrator, Mixer etc and Vehicle: experience in similar project, available skilled, and semi skilled manpower and other relevant information as specified in the bid document.

7.       Interested contractors should have experiences of successful completion of similar projects is an advantage.

8.       Interested bidders will be requested to offer technical and financial proposals separately as specified in the bid documents to be provided.

9.       Bids must be accompanied by bid security of not less than 1% of the total bid price in unconditional Bank guarantee or CPO or cash. They shall deliver bids to AWRDB, procurement Office, Room No. 06, Bahir Dar. Electronic bidding will not be permitted and late bids will be rejected. Bids shall be valid for period of 90 days after bid opening.

10.   A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased from AWRDB procurement service, ground floor, Room No 06 upon payment of a non-refundable fee Birr 200 from the date of first announcement of this notice on The Ethiopian Herald in office hours for 30 consecutive days.

11.   Bids shall be opened in the presence of official representatives of the bidders, who wish to attend at the next Government working day following bid closing date at 8:00 P.M. local time at Mecha Wereda Administration office or the representative, Merawi town. Interested applicants may obtain further information during office hours at Regional program Coordination Unit.

12.   Mecha Wereda Administration reserves the right to reject or accept any or all bids.
