1.       Hawassa  University intends to procure Electronics, Medical and Teaching Laboratory equipment, and Glass wares.

2.       All procurement cited above to be supplied from nay eligible source under this tender must confirm to international standards and norms.

3.       Bids are invited from eligible bidder for the supply of the following materials and equipment:

Bid No. 1 Electronics and Related Items
Bid I: Computer & Accessories
Bid No. 2 Medical & Teaching Laboratory Equipments, and Glass wares

1: Medical & relate equipments
2: Teaching Laboratory equipments & Glass wares.

4.       Bidders have the option to bid for all the lots or only one lot. Bids will be evaluated and contracts awarded for each lot taking into account technical compliance to the given specification, the shortest delivery time and the lowest evaluated price of the lots, which will be the basis for award of the contracts. Bidders not providing a technically responsive offer for at least 90% of the items in a lot will be traded as incomplete and rejected as non responsive. The Purchase will have the right to evaluate and award the contract for ach item in a lot on item-by-item basis if there are not three over 90% technically responsive offers. For the purpose of evaluation only, where the bidders has bid for incomplete bid but for more than 90% of the items the average bid price for the missing items will be used.

5.       Detail information will be found in the bidding document which is obtainable during working hours from Tender committee office of the University, Awassa, or from Ministry of Education, Office No. 119, Hawassa University liaison office upon payment of a non-refundable amount of Birr 300 (Three Hundred Birr) for each bid beginning from February 26, 2007. In addition to the hard copy, bidders can have a diskette copy of bidding document. But they are required to bring their own floppies for this purpose.

6.       Bidders requiring bidding document by first class air mail should send crossed bank draft of Birr 300 (Three Hundred) or an equivalent amount in foreign currency drawn in favor of Hawassa University in addition to the price of document indicated in par. 5 above.

7.       Sealed bids must be submitted with the marking Tender No. Gov. 03/1999/ICB 2007 specifying the specific bid with the address stated in part. 8 below.

8.       All bids must be accompanied by a bid bond amount.

Electronics and Related Items Birr 30,000 (Thirty Thousand) or an equivalent amount in the form of Bank Guarantee or C.P.O. cheque established through any commercial bank in Ethiopia for each bid and addressed to Hawassa University, P.O. Box 05, Tel. 251 46 220 69 28/220 96 76/77/78, Awassa so as to reach it on or before April 12 at 10:00 A.M. Bidders are advised to accompany their signed offer with Microsoft EXL 2000 programme file by CD and the file should not be protected by password and are also required to strictly follow the item Nos. in the document.

9.       Bids received by the said deadline will be publicly opened in the presence of bidders or their representatives at 10:00 A.M. on the same date at Awassa College of Agriculture (ACA) at the tender committee office.

10.   Bid received after the tender box has been sealed will be rejected and returned unopened.

11.   Original catalogues indicating the specifications, samples where necessary and sources of products must be attached. Items quoted without preference to an appropriate catalogue will be rejected. If photocopies have to be used in the quotation the document must be clear and legible and the source of the products must be clearly indicated on the leaflet.

12.   Offers prices for those items, which require erecting and testing, should be indicating on item basis. Inland transportation & other incidental cost should also be indicated.

13.   Bidders required to use the original bid documents or if not to follow strictly the price schedule formatís and other information of the purchaser.

14.   Hawassa University reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
