1. This
Specific procurement Notice follows the General procurement Notice
for this project, which appeared in Development Business Issue No.
592 dated 16 October 2002.
2. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has
received a loan from the African Development Fund in the amount of
UA 19,890,000 towards the cost of Harar water Supply and Sanitation
project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to
cover eligible payments under the Contact for the construction of
storm drainage system. Bidding is open to all bidder from eligible
member countries as defined in the ADB’s Rules of Procedures for
Procurement of Good and Works.

The Ministry of Water Resources now invites sealed bids from
eligible bidders for the works described below. Domestic bidders
shall be in the category of GC-1 and registered with the Government
of Ethiopia.
The storm water drainage system
consist of nearly 12.3 km closed pipe conduits and associated civil
works such as manholes, street inlets and outfall structures for the
improvement of Harar Town storm drainage system (inside and outside
Jegol area).

Complete set of bidding documents (and additional copies) may
be purchased from the Ministry of at the address indicated below up
on payment of non-refundable fee of Birr 500.00 (Five Thousand Birr)
or its equivalent in freely convertible currency, payable to
Ministry of Water Resources, Harar water Supply and Sanitation
Project, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Finfine Branch, A/C No.
4461/0172006479100 for each set. Interested eligible bidders may
obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents at the

5. The
Instruction to bidders and general Conditions of contract contained
in the bidding documents comply with the Banks Standard bidding
documents for the Procurement of small works.
6. Bids
shall be valid for a period of 120 days after bid opening and must
be accompanied by a bid security of ETB 1,800, 000.00 (One Million
Eight Hundred Thousand Birr) or its equivalent in a freely
convertible currency, and shall be delivered to the above office on
or before 3:00 P.M. local time on April 16, 2007. The bid will be
opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose to
attend at the Ministry of Water Resources, Contract Administration
Department, Room No. 211, at 3:30 P.M. on the same date.
