1. This
Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this
Project that appeared in Development Business.
2. The
Government of Ethiopia has received credit from the International
Development Association toward the cost of the Water Supply and
Sanitation Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of
this credit to payments under the Contract for Procurement of Hand
Pumps and spare parts for the Rural Water Supply Program in the
Region.
3. The
Harari Regional Agricultural & Rural Development Bureau now invites
sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of 40
Afridev and 20 Indian Mark II, spare parts and
installation/maintenance tools. Bidders must bid for all items and
full quantities. Otherwise the bid may be rejected.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding (NCB) as
specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD
Loans and IDA Credit, and is open to all bidders from eligible
source countries as defined in the Guidelines.
5.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information
and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from
8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. & 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. local hours from
Monday to Friday.
6. Bidding
is open to Suppliers that have delivered on contract of similar type
and quantity in the last three years, and pumps must be manufactured
by companies that have fabricated Afridev and Indian Mark II Hand
pumps for at least three years in annual quantities at least five
times that to e supplied under this contract. Additional details are
provided in the Bidding documents.
7. A
complete set of Bidding documents in English may be purchased by
interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the
Harari Regional Agricultural & Rural Development Bureau at
the address given below, upon payment of a ETB 200 non-refundable
fee. The method of payment will be in cash or cheque against
reaccept.
8. Bids
must be delivered to on or before 10:00 (February 13, 2007).
Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be
rejected.
9. Bids
will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who
choose to attend in person at 10:00 A.M. on (February 13, 2007) at
the HARARI Regional Agricultural & Rural Development Bureau, WSSP
Coordination Unit, Building No. 03, Room Number 026, P.O. Box 105,
Harar Town.
10. Bids
shall be valid for a period of one hundred and twenty (120) days
after bid opening and must be accompanied by bid security of not
less than 2% of the total price in Ethiopian Birr or an equivalent
amount in freely convertible currency.
