This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement
Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, on
November 22, 2004 for the Ethiopian Water Supply and Sanitation
Program.
2. The
(SNNP Regional State) through the Government of Ethiopia has
received credit from the International Development Association
toward the cost of the Water Supply and Sanitation Project and it
intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments
under the Contract for Procurement of Hand Pumps and spare parts for
the Rural Water Supply Program in the Region.
3. The
(SNNP Regional Water Resources Development Bureau) now invites
sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of
149 Afridev hand pumps and, 164 of Indian mark II hand pumps, spare
parts, and installation/maintenance tools. Partial bids will not be
accepted.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD
Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible
source countries as defined in the Guidelines.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from the address
given below and inspect the bidding document at the address from
8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. & from 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday to
Friday.
6. To
be qualified for the award of contract, Suppliers, should have
delivered on contracts of a similar type and quantity in the last
three years, and pumps must be manufactured by companies that have
fabricated Afridev and Indian mark II hand pumps for at least thee
years in annual quantities at list five times that be supplied under
this contract. Additional details are provided in the bidding
documents.

A complete set of Bidding document in English may be
purchased by interested bidders on submission of a written
Application to the SNNP Regional Water Resources Development Bureau,
Procurement Department at the address given below, upon payment of
ETB 250 or USD 25 non-refundable fee. The method of payment will be
in cash or cheque against receipt. A person delegated by the bidders
will collect the bidding documents.
8.
Bids must be delivered to the SNNP Regional Water Resources
Development Bureau, Procurement Department, Room Number 05, P.O. Box
153, Awassa, at or before 10:00 A.M. on February 28, 2007.
Electronic biding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected.
9. Bids
will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who
choose to attend in person at 10:00 A.M. on February 21, 2007 at the
SNNP Regional Water Resources Development Bureau, Procurement
Department, Room Number 05, P.O. Box 153, Awassa. Bids will be valid
for a period of one hundred and twenty (120) days after bid opening
and must be accompanied by bid security of not less than 2% of the
total bid price in total currency. The Regional Water Resources
Bureau reserves the right to reject all or part of the bid.
