1. This
Invitation for bids follow the General Procurement notice for this
Project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 649 of
February 28, 2007.
2. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ministry of Education, has
received credit from the International Development Association
toward the cost of Post Secondary Education Project (PSEP), and it
intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments
under the Contract for Procurement of Books and Reading Materials
for Addis Ababa University.
3. The
Addis Ababa University now invites sealed bids from eligible and
qualified bidders for Text Books and Reading Materials.

Bidders may quote for any one or all
lots. Bids for individual lots will be evaluated separately and
contract will be awarded to the lowest evaluated bidders for each
lot.
4. Bidding
will e conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement
under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits May 2004, and is open to all
bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the guidelines.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from Addis Ababa
University, purchasing Division e-mail
fpurchasing_division@yahoo.com, and inspect the bidding
documents at the address given below from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
during the working days.
6.
Qualification requirements include:
a)
General Experience: Minimum of three years in operations.
b)
Specific Experience: Successfully completed minimum of two
contracts similar in six and scope
c)
Financial Information:
i.
Audited financial accounts for at least two complete fiscal
years. Additional details are provided in the bidding documents.
7. A
complete set f bidding documents in English may be purchased by
interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the
given address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee ETB 50 or in
an equivalent US Dollar (plus bank’s charges for money transfer and
courier or postage charge). Payment can be done in cash at the
University cash service. Payment can be cone in cash at University
cash service. The Bidding document can be collected directly from
the address specified below or delivery by special courier.
In case of delivery by special
courier, the potential bidders shall bear the sole responsibility
for paying and arranging for the shipment of documents. Under no
circumstances shall Addis Ababa University be responsible for any
late delivery of the bidding documents delivered by special courier.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before at 2:00 P.M. on
06/03/07. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will
be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the
bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person at the
address below at 2:30 P.M. on 06/03/07. All bids must be accompanied
by a bid security of ETB 26,000 or an equivalent amount in a freely
convertible currency.
