1. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (EDRE) has
received a loan and a grant from the African Development Fund in the
amount of UA 32.3 million towards the cost of Education III Project
and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the funds to cover
eligible payments under the contract(s) for the construction of ten
(10) Primary schools in the Afar Region.
2.
The Afar National Regional State Education Bureau now invites
sealed bids from prospective bidders for the construction for any or
all of the primary schools listed below, each constituting a single
lot/contract. Bidding is open to all contractors in GC 6 or BC 6
Category and above, Who have been registered with the Ministry of
Works and Urban Development of FDRE and have renewed their license
for the current year 2006/7.

3. Bidding
Documents (and additional copies) may be obtained at the Afar
Regional Education Bureau, Engineering Team Room No. 7 Telephone No.
033 666 01 26 or Fax No. 033 66 01 23 upon submission of a written
request to Afar Regional Education Bureau and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of Birr 100 for each lot and each lot and set.
Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same
office.
4.
Bids shall be valid for a period of 120 calendar days after
bid opening and must be accompany by security of Birr 15,000
(Fifteen Thousand) and above in the form of cash, Cash Payment Order
(CPO), or Bank Guarantee valid for a period of 28 calendar days
beyond the period of bid validity. Bids shall be delivered in the
office of Works and Urban Dev’t bureau Engineering Department Room
No. 9, Tel. No. 033 666 00 02 on or before 10:00 A.M. on February
16, 2007.
5.
Bids will be opened on the same date as the bid closing at
10:30 A.M. at the above address in the presence of the bidders who
wish to attend the opening ceremony.
