Procurement of MV and LV Switchgear

1. This
Invitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this
Project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 679 of 16
May 2006.
2.
The Federal Government of Ethiopian has received a credit
from the International Development Association toward the cost of
Electricity Access Expansion Project, and it intends to apply part
of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for
procurement of MV and LV switchgear tender no. EAEP 2/99.
3. The
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from
eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of 2343, 33kv Fused
cut out, 100 A,3124,33kv Spare fuse links for fused cut out (Item
1), (5-25A), 2343, 33kv Metal oxide surge arrestor, 3 phase outdoor
type, 764,33 kv load break switch 200A, 781, 0.4kv pole mounted
fuse,400A, 2343,HRC fuse 63A, 2343, HRC fuse80A, 2353, HRC fuse
100A, 2353, HRC fuse 200A, 2343, HRC fuse 350A, 40 Auto Reclosure
sectionalize to four different substations, in one lot. Details with
ratings are provided in the bid document.

Bidding will be conducted through the International
Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s
Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits Edition May
2004, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as
defines in the Guidelines.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information
from and inspect the bidding documents at the address below (address
1) from 8:00 AM up to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday.
6.
A margin of preference for eligible domestic manufacturers
shall be applied. Additional details are provided in the bidding
documents.
7.
A complete set of bidding documents in English may be
purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written
Application to the address below ( address 2) and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee ETB 300 or in USD 35 from the Ethiopian Electric
Power Corporation, procurement division, Head Office. The method of
payment shall be in cash or cashier’s cheque.
8.
The bidding document may also be sent by airmail or carrier
service for overseas bidders who cover all carrier costs in addition
to the above fee.
9. Bids
must be delivered to the address below (address 2) at or before
September 24, 2007, 14:00hr LT. Electronic bidding will not be
permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the
presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in
person. Bids will be opened at Head Office employee club, De Gaulle
Square on September 24, 2007 at 14:30 P.M.
All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security not less than 2% of
the bid price.
