1. This
invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this
project that appeared in United Nations Development Business, issue
no. 696, dated 16 February 2007.
2. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has
received a loan from the African Development Fund towards the cost
of implementing the Rural Electrification II Project. It is intended
that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible
payments under Contract No. NGAA-1 for the supply of Equipments for
the Nekemte-Gida Ayana and Aksta-Alem Ketema 132 KV Substations.
3. The
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from
eligible bidders for Contract No. NGAA -1, Design, manufacture, test
and supply of 132 KV Substation equipments.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
procedures specified in the African Development Bank Group “Rules of
Procedures for Procurement of Goods and Works” and are open to all
bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Rules.

6. A
complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by
interested eligible Bidders on the submission of a written
application to the address stated above and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 5,000.00 (Five Thousand) or its
equivalent in a freely-convertible currency.
7. Bids
must be delivered to the above office on or before 13:30 hours local
time on 31 January 2008 and must be accompanied by a security of USD
200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand) or an equivalent amount in a freely
convertible currency.
8. Bids
will be opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose
to attend at 14:00 hours local time on 31 January 2008 at the
