Procurement of Medium voltage Impregnated Wood poles
 

1.      This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, issue no.697 of 16 May 2006.

2.      The Federal Government of Ethiopia has received for a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Electricity access expansion project I, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for procurement of Medium voltage impregnated wooden poles Tender no. EAEP 7/2000

3.      The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the procurement of:

Impregnated wooden poles in three (3) lots to 17 separate locations. Details are provided in the bid document.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the International competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address below (address 1) from 8:00 AM up to 5:00PM from Monday to Friday:

6.      Bidders are invited to bid on one or multiple lots of their choice and to offer discounts in case They are awarded more than one lot. Only Bids for all items within one lot.
Will be evaluated. A margin or preference for goods manufactured in Ethiopia shall be applied. Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.

7.      A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders the submission of a written Application to the address below (address 2) and upon payment of a non-refundable fee ETB 500 or in USD 60 from the Ethiopian electric power corporation, procurement division, head office. The method of payment shall be in cash or cashier’s check.

8.      The bidding document may also be sent by airmail or carrier service for overseas bidders who cover all carrier costs in addition to the above fee.

9.      Bids must be delivered to the address below (address 2) at or before January 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. LT. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person. Bids will be opened at EEPCo Head office employee club, De Gualle square on January 28, 20008 at 2:30 P.M. LT. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security not less than 2% of the bid price in ETB or in any freely convertible currency.

10.  Taking into account the lead time required for importation and installation of wood pole impregnation plant (s) to the purchaser country. The purchaser has considered a lead time after the date of receipt of advance payment under the contract for suppliers the purchaser will facilitate access to foreign currency required for the importation of wooden pole impregnation plant (s).

11.  The purchaser will facilitate for the successful bidder importation of wooden pole impregnation plant (s) free from import duties.
