1.      The Oromia Regional state through the Government of Ethiopia has received credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of the Water Supply and Sanitation project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for Procurement of Submersible Dewatering Pumps and portable generator with accessories for the Rural Water Supply Program in the Region.

2.      The Oromia Regional Water Resources Bureau now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of 35 (Thirty Five) Dewatering pumps & 40 (Forty) portable generating sets with accessories.

3.      Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding (NCB) as specified in the World bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines.

4.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the address given below and inspect the bidding documents at that address from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. & from 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday to Friday.

5.      To be qualified for the award of contract, Suppliers should have delivered on contracts of a similar type and quality in the last three years, and pumps/generators must be manufactured by companies that have fabricated dewatering pumps/generating sets for at least three years in annual quantities at list five times that to be supplied under this contract. Additional details are provided in the bidding documents.

6.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the Oromia Regional Water Resources Bureau, Program Support Staff Office at the address given below, upon payment of an ETB 150 non-refundable fees for each lot. The method of payment will be in cash or cheque against receipt. A person delegated by the bidder can collect the bidding documents.

7.      Bids must be delivered to the Oromia Regional water Resources Bureau, Program support Staff Office, Room Number 407 at or before 2:00 P.M. on November 8, 2007. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected.

8.      Bids will be opened in the present of the bidders/representatives who choose at attend in person at 2:30 P.M. on the same day November 8, 2007 at the Oromia Regional Water Resources Bureau, Conference Hall 3rd floor. Bids shall be valid for a period of Ninety (90) days after bid opening and must be accompanied by bid security of not less than 2% of the total bid price in local currency. The Regional Water Resources Bureau reserves the right to reject all or part of the bid.
