EDUCATION III PROJECT CONSTRUCTION OF
SCHOOLS
1. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has
received a loan and a grant from the Africa Development Fund in UA
towards the cost of Education III programs. And intends to apply
part of the proceeds of the funds to cover eligible payment under
the contract(s) for construction of new Lower Primary Schools and expansion of
existing Lower Primary Schools in Oromia Region. The names of the
schools to be constructed are indicated in the following table.
2. The
Oromia Regional Education Bureau invites sealed bids from
prospective bidders, for the construction of new Lower primary
Schools and expansion Lower Primary Schools of any or all of the
Lower Primary Schools listed below each constituting a single
package/ contract Building is open to all contractors on the
category GC 7 or BC 7 and above, who have been registered by the
Ministry of Works and Urban Development of FDRE and have renewed
their license for the current year 2008. Interested eligible bidders
may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding document
at the following address.

3. Bidding
documents (and additional copies) may be obtained at the Oromia
Education Bureau P.O. Box 8727 Tel. 251-011-440 13 80 Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia upon written application to Plan, research and Construction
Department and payment of non-refundable fee of Eth. Birr 300.00
(Three Hundred) for each school and set starting from January 18,
2008 up to March 3, 2008. The provisions in the instruction to
bidders and in the general conditions of contract are the provisions
of the ADB’s Standard Bidding Documents Procurement of Small works.
4. Those
contractors who are registered to pay VAT must submit copy of the
VAT certificate.
5. Bids
can be delivered to or mailed separately to the Oromia Education
Bureau, on or before March 4, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. accompanied by a bid security valid for 120 calendar days beyond the
date of bid opening. And the bid security amount shall be marking
“BID FOR TENDER No. – and “Site name”. Bidders can participate in
more than one packages as their license permits them.
6. Bid
will be opened on the bid closing date as mentioned above at 3:30
P.M. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after bid opening
day.
7. The
construction of each school should be completed within a maximum of
150 calendar days for each of New Lower Primary Schools and 100
calendar days for each of expansion of Lower Primary Schools from
the commencement date of the work.
8. The
Oromia Education Bureau reserves the right to reject any or all
bids.
