Description

TO ALL CONTRACTORS OF CATEGORY GC/BC Class 3 & above with valid trade license, and construction license for the year 2000 E.C.

1.      The Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) has got a budget from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) for the construction of Remaining civil works at Jinka Research Center.

2.      The Jinka Research Center has been under construction since January, 2004 and the contract has been officially terminated. The works include the completion of the works which have been partially completed, just started and under construction and works that are not yet started at all.

3.      The construction works is sliced and packaged into two lots. Bidders have the option to bid for one or more lots. Bids will be evaluated and contract for one lot only.

4.      Most of the work items in the bid are either partially completed or need rectification, or only at commencement stage, It is highly recommended for prospective bidders to visit the site to assess the conditions of the works as well as the prevailing resources & other contingencies of the project.

5.      The Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research invites wax-sealed bids from eligible bidders for furnishing the necessary labour, material & equipment for the construction of remaining civil works at Jinka Research Center.

6.      All contractors are required to submit VAT Registration certificate, and proof of their up to date registration certificate form the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Trade Bureau from the place of registration.

7.      The construction works shall be completed within 300 calendar days from the commencement of the works.

8.      A complete set of bidding documents can be purchased 3 days after the 1^st day of announcement by any interested eligible bidders on the submission of a written application to the office of:

 and upon, payment of non-refundable Birr 1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred Birr) for each set of document.

9.      Bidders may obtain further information concerning the bidding document form the above Adress.

10.  Bid shall be valid for a period of 120 days after bid opening and must be accompanied by a bid security of Birr 80,000 (Eighty Thousand) and shall be delivered to Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research on the 30^th day before 12:00 A.M. from the 1^st issuance date of the bid on The Ethiopian Herald news paper.

11.  The bid security shall, at the bidder’s option, be it in the form of certified cheque or payable order, bank draft, letter of credit, or an unconditional bank. The format of the bid security include in section 4 Bidding forms or another form acceptable to the Employer Bid security shall be valid 28 days beyond the validity of the bid.

12.  Bids will be opened in the bidder’s or their legal representatives on the same day at 2:00 P.M. at the conference hall of the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research.

13.  Bidders are instructed to submit one original. One photocopy of their bid documents.

14.  The employer reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

Bidders are instructed to fill, sign and seal all the forms of the bid documents.

All bids must include Value Added Tax (VAT) on the summary of the bid price.

Partial rebate, like fixed sum and rebate on some items is not acceptable.
