Protection of Basic Services Project

Procurement of Laboratory Equipments
1. This
Invitation for Bids follows the General /Procurement Notice for this
Project that appeared in Development Business, on March 28 and April
1, 2008.
2. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a grant from
the International Development Association and other Donors toward
the cost of Protection of Basic Services, and it intends to apply
part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the Contract
for Procurement of Laboratory Equipment.
3. The
Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency now invites sealed bids from
eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of Laboratory
Equipment to the Health & Nutrition Research Institute (HNRI).
4. Bidding
will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding
(ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines:
Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and are open to all
bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from,
Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency, Tel: 251 112 751790, Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address
given below from 8:30 AM -11:30 PM and 1:30 PM-4:30 PM from Monday
to Friday.
6. Pre
Bid Conference: A Pre Bid Conference for all bidders will be held on
Monday 25th August 2008, at the PFSA Conference Room
Addis Ketema, Kebele 19/20 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 10:00 A.M.
7. Qualifications
requirements include:
a)
Financial Capability: A minimum average annual turnover of
two times the bid price offered, over the last five years; and
b)
Experience and Technical Capacity: Having successfully
completed a minimum of two contracts each of similar nature and size
within the last five years.
8. A
complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be
purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written
Application to the address below and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 200.00 (Two Hundred Birr) or
equivalent in a freely convertible currency. Those who want the bid
documents t be sent by a Courier Service shall pay an additional
amount of ETB 515.00 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency
for a courier service charge or send a pre paid Courier Service
Coupon. The method of payment will be in cash, or Cashier’s Payment
Order (C.P.O), or direct deposit to PFSA A/C No. 0133818504100 with
the National Bank of Ethiopia.
9. Sealed
Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 2:00 P.M.
15th September 2008 Electronic bidding will not be
permitted. late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the
presence of the bidders representatives who choose to attend in
person at the PFSA Conference Hall, Addis Ketema Kebele 19/20,
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 2:30
P.M. 15th September, 2008.
Al bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of 2% of the Bid
amount including all incidental services or an equivalent amount in
a freely convertible currency.
