Notice of Invitation for Bid for
Construction of Road
Project
Project: 1.
Angerb-Keraker Road project.
2. Adura-Akobo and Adura-Burbe Road
project.
1. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated
sufficient budget towards the cost of construction of Angerb-Keraker
and Adura-Akobo & Adura-Burbe Road projects and intends to apply
part of this budget to payments under these contracts.
2. The
Ethiopian Roads Authority invites Contractors, which fulfills the
following requirements, to submit sealed bids for the Construction
of the Road Projects mentioned in (1) above:-
a)
In the case of Ethiopian bidders only, its Certificate of
registration from Ministry of Works and Urban Development with
category GC-1 or RC-1 valid for 2000 EFY
b)
In the case of bidders other than Ethiopians, any valid
relevant professional practice certificate
c)
Other appropriate documentary evidence demonstrating the
bidder’s compliance, which shall include:-
i)
Its valid trading license and suppliers registration
certificate renewed for 2000 EFY; and
ii)
Its tax clearance certificate valid at bidding and VAT
registration certificate
3. Angereb-Keraker Road project is
located in Northern part of Amhara regional state and the work under
this project consists of Construction of 48 km length Gravel
surfaced road involving earth works for excavation. Embankment and
sub-grade; construction of granular sub0base and base; construction
of asphalt concrete surfacing on certain high slop sections and
construction of minor and major cross-drainage structures. The
construction period is 1080 calendar days.
Adura-Akobo and Adura-Burbe Road projects is located in Gambela
Regional in the Nuware zone and the work under this project,
consists of construction of 125km length of road to a standard of
main access road involving construction of new road surfaced with
sub-base gravel wearing course having a 7 meter carriageway width
and pipe culverts with galvanize corrugated steel and rein forced
concrete. The construction period is 1460 calendar days.
4. Bidding
will conducted through the national competitive bidding procedures
specified in the bidding Documents, and are opened to all bidders,
which fulfills, the above requirements.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information on the bidding
documents at the address given below (Address 1) from 8:30 to 11:30
A.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Fridays local time. A complete
set of bidding documents in English language may be inspected and
purchased by interested bidders as of June 16, 2008 at the address
below (Address 2) upon presentation of the documents mentioned under
item (2) above and a written application to the same address
(Address 2) and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 750.

6. Bidders
shall submit two envelopes, “Qualification information & Bid
Security” in one envelope and “Financial Bid” separately in the
second envelope and should be sealed in an outer envelope for each
project.
7. Evaluation
is to be carried out in two stages, evaluation of Qualification
information first and evaluation of Financial Bids of qualified
bidders next for both projects.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before August 12, 2008
at 2:30 p.m. for both Projects. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security of
ETB 100,000. Late bids will be rejected. Qualification information
and Bid security of the bidders will be opened in the presence of
bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the address below at
2:30 P.M. for Angereb-Keraker
road project and at 3:00 P.M. for Adura-Akobo & Adura-Burbe road
project.
