Project: Werabelle River Bridge Project
1. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has
allocated budget towards the cost of Werabelle River Bridge Project
and intends to apply part of the proceeds to eligible payments for
this Contract.
2. The
Ethiopian Roads Authority now invites all eligible bidders to submit
sealed bids for providing the necessary labour, material and
equipment for the construction of Werabelle River Bridge Project.
3. Interested
bidders shall submit the following evidence;
a)
In the case of Ethiopian bidders, its Certificate of
registration from Ministry of Works and Urban Development with
Category GC-1 Or RC-1 Or BC-1 valid for 2000 EFY.
b)
In case of bidders other than Ethiopian; valid relevant
professional practice certificate.
c)
Other appropriate documentary evidence demonstrating the
bidder’s compliance, which shall include:
i.
Its valid trading license and supplier registration
certificate renewed for 2000 EFY; and
ii.
Its tax clearance certificate valid at bidding and VAT
registration certificate.
4. The
Werabelle River Bridget is located along the Addis Ababa Aleta Wendo
Road which turns east for 30 km at Birata town which is about 565km
from Addis Ababa. The designed bridge has a total span length of 90m
which consists of 25m Box Girder Anchor Span on either sides and 10m
Box Girder Cantilever supporting a 20m Deck Girder Suspended
Superstructure (25m+10m+20+10m+25m).
The work
involves construction of bridge and approach road; and the work
includes but not limited to the following:
Provision and maintenance of site
laboratory and accommodation, office, transport and equipment;
Site clearance and setting out;
Earthwork excavation for embankments
and sub-grade, widening of existing approach road to provide 7m
roadway
Construct ion of gravel wearing
course;
Provision and erection of road
furniture;
Accommodation of traffic passing
throughout the construction period;
Maintenance works on the existing
Genale River bailey bridget;
Ancillary operations to complete set
execution of the Works; and
Taking care of the Works prior to the
issue of a Taking Over Certificate and rectification of defects
during the Defects Liability Period of 365 days.
The construction
period is 270 calendar days.
5. Bidding
will be conducted in accordance with the open national tendering
procedures contained in the Public Procurement Proclamation of the
Federal Government of Ethiopia. Bidding is open to all eligible
bidders.
6. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information on the bidding
documents at the address given below (Address 1) from 8:30 to 12:30
to 11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Fridays
local time. A complete set of bidding documents. (in English) may be
inspected and purchased by interested bidders as of June 17, 2008 at
the address below (Address 2) upon presentation of the documents
mentioned under item (3) above and a written application to the same
address (Address 2) and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr
750.

7. Bidders
shall submit “Bid and Bid Security” in one envelope. Evaluation is
to be carried out in one stage.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before July 31, 2008 at
2:30 P.M. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of ETB 100,000.00. Late
bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of
bidders/representatives who choose to attend at the address below
July 31, 2008 at 2:30 P.M.
