2.      The works under these contracts include upgrading of the Roads to DS5 Road Class (ERA’s Geometric Design Manual-2002). The upgraded road shall have a cross-section width of 7.0m outside town (with out shoulder) and 19m width(including 3.5m parking lane and 2.5m pedestrian walkway) within town sections. The formation of the roads is 20cm base course/wearing gravel and 10cm capping layer. The work also includes construction of minor and major drainage structures.

3.      Interested bidders shall submit the following evidences.
In case of Ethiopian bidders, a registration certificate for Category GC-1 or RC-1 & trading license valid of the year 2000 E.F.Y., certificate of registration for VAT and a valid tax clearance certificate.
In case of bidders other than Ethiopians; valid relevant professional practice certificate, trading license and certificate of registration (incorporation).

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures specified in the bidding documents, and is open to all eligible bidders.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below (Address 1) from 8:30 to 12:30 A.M. and 1:30 to 5:30 P.M. from Mondays to Thursdays and 8:30 to11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Fridays local time. A complete set of Bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders as of March 17, 2008 at the address below (Address 2) upon presentation of the documents mentioned under item (3) above and a written application to the same address (Address 2) and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr 750 per contract,

6.      Bidders shall submit two envelopes, the first envelope “Qualification Information and Bid Security”. And the second envelope “Financial Bid”. Separately sealed and the two envelopes sealed in an outer envelope.

7.      Evaluation is to be carried out in two stages, Qualification Information first and Financial Bids of qualified Bidders next.

8.      Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before April 17, 2008 at 2:30 P.M. Number of copies of bid to be submitted: One Original plus Four Copies.

Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security of ETB 100,000.00. Late bids will be rejected.

Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose to attend, at the address below:
