Welkite Town Water Supply and
Sanitation Project;
Credit No. 3901-ET/Grant No. H085-ET; ICB No.
1. This
invitation for Bids follows the general procurement notice for this
project that appeared in Development Business Web Site, issue no.
August 17, 2007.
2. The
Government of Ethiopia has received a Grant from International
Development Association toward the cost of Water Supply and
Sanitation Project proceeds to this Credit/ Grant to payments under
the contract for construction of pumping station, transmission
lines, reservoirs, distribution network and auxiliary buildings in
Welkite town and surrounding.
3. Welkite
Town Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise now invites sealed bids
from qualified eligible bidders for the pumping station,
transmission lines, reservoirs, distribution net work and auxiliary
building as described below.

4. Bidding
will be conducted though the International Competitive Bidding (IDB)
a procedure specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement
under IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source
counties as defined in the Bidding document.

6. Qualification
requirements include; For the bidders
Bidders should have the experience on civil construction works at
least two similar size works in the last five years, supported with
names of clients, type and value of contracts.
7. A
complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by
interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the
address below and upon payment of a non refundable fee of ETB 250.00
or USD 25.00 Method of payment will be in cash or check against
receipt.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the address below at or before 10:30 A.M.
January 8, 2009. Electronic bidding shall not be permitted. Late
bids will be rejected.
9. Bids
will be opened physically in the presence of the bidders’
representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below
before 10:30 A.M. January 8, 2009. All bids shall be accompanied by
a Bid Security of not less than 1% of the total bid price in
Ethiopian birr or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible
currency.
