NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BIDS
1. The
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated budget
towards the cost of maintenance works of the under listed projects
and intends to apply part of this budget to payments under these
contractors.

2. The
works under these contracts include maintaining of the roads in
accordance with the respective technical specifications of each
project (ERA’s Technical Specification for Road Maintenance Works, 2nd
Edition August 2003). The maintenance work of Bureau section under
D/Markos district includes maintaining of approximately 267km road
out of which 18 km is paved and 86km is paved and 279 km is unpaved.
3. The
Ethiopian Roads Authority now invites bidders, which fulfill the
following requirements, to submit sealed bids for maintenance works
of the road projects mentioned in (1):-
a)
In these case of Ethiopian Bidders only, its certificate of
registration from Ministry of Works and Urban Development with
Category GC-V or RC-V or above renewed for 2000 EFY and other
appropriate documentary evidence demonstrating the bidder’s
compliance which shall include:
(i)
Its valid trading license renewed for 2000 EFY; and
(ii)
Its tax clearance certificate valid at bidding and VAT
registration certificate.
b)
In case of Bidders other than Ethiopians; business
organization registration certificate or trade license issued by the
country of establishment.
4. Bidding
will be conducted though the National Competitive Bidding (NCB)
procedures specified in the bidding documents, and is open to all
eligible bidders.
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the
bidding documents at the Ethiopian Roads Authority at the address
given below (Address 1) from 8:30 to 12:30 A.M. and 1:30 to 5:30
P.M. from Monday to Thursdays and 8:30 to 11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M.
to 5:30 P.M. on Fridays local time. A complete set of bidding
documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders as of
November 3, 2008 at the address below (Address 2) upon presentation
of the document mentioned under item (3) above and a written
application to the same address (Address 2) and upon payment of a
non-refundable of Birr 150 per contract.

6. Bidders
shall seal the original and all copies of the Bid in two inner
envelopes and one outer envelope, duly marking the inner envelopes
as “ORIGINAL” and “COPIES”.
7. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before December 18,
2008 at 2:30 P.M. Number of copies of bid to be submitted: One
Original plus Four Copies Each bid must be accompanied by a bid
security of ETB 50,000.00. Late bids will be rejected.
Bids will be
opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who choose to
attend, at the address below.

or all bids with out giving any reasons.
