To all contractors of GC/BC-5 & above who can present necessary
license with VAT & TIN registration certificate, tax clearance for
the year under bid.
1. The
Mekelle City Water Supply & Sewerage Service (MWSSS) though the
Federal Government of Ethiopia has received Credit & Grant from the
International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of
increased access to sustainable water supply & sanitation services
in the City. The office now intends to apply part of the credit
for eligible payments under the contracts for the construction of:

2. The
office now invites sealed bids from eligible bidder for eth works
mentioned above.
3. A
complete set of bidding documents can be purchased by any interested
and eligible bidder on the submission of a written application to
Mekelle City Water Supply &
Sewerage Service, office No. 14, Mekelle,
and upon payment of non-refundable
fee of Birr 400 for each lot.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB)
procedures specified in the World Bank’s guidelines & is open to all
bidders from eligible countries.
5. Bids
shall be valid for a period of Ninety (90) days after bid
opening and must be accompanied a bid security in the form of an
acceptable CPO or irrevocable bank guarantee from a reputable
bank for birr not less than 1% of the total price for each lot
delivered to Mekelle City Water Supply & Sewerage Service
during the bid opening date:
6. Qualification
requirement include: 1) Ownership and/or existing lease of necessary
equipment 2) Completion of at least 3 (three) similar projects
within the last five years with testimonial letters 3) total annual
turn over of at least 1.5 times the total value of the present bid
for the last five years. 4) Clear statements of financial status &
company’s annual turn over as per the BDS 5) availability of
relevant experienced personnel as provided in the bidding document &
others.
7. The
final for bid submission/closing date shall be on the 31st
day (Consecutive days) from the first announcement on The
Ethiopian Herald news paper at
4:00 P.M. &
will be opened in the same date at
4:30 P.M. in Mekelle City
Water Supply & Sewerage Service
in the presence of bidders or their
representatives who want to attend.
8. The
employer will respond in writing or by cable to any request for
clarification, which it receives earlier than 10 (Ten) days prior to
the deadline for the submission of bids.
9. The
office reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
