AMHARA NATIONAL REGIONAL STATE WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT BUREAU (WRDB) WATER SUPPLY, SANITATION AND HYGIENE PROJECT

CR.#3901-ET and Grant #H085 ET

Title: North Shoa Zone, Mortina Jiru Woreda, kussaye village Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Project Invitation No.

1.      The Amhara Regional State through the government of Ethiopia has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Program and intends to apply part of the proceeds for Kussaye Village Rural Piped Water Supply Sanitation project by National Competitive Bidding/ MCB/ under the contract RPS/001/2008 terms and conditions.

2.      The client, Amhara National Regional State Water Resources Development Bureau now invites sealed bids from qualified and eligible bidders having grade 6 GC and above with renewed water works license from the Ministry of Water Resources, renewed trade license, in land revenue for the year 2008/2009 and VAT registration Certificate to implement Kussaye Village Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project.

The project encompasses:

i.      Construction of Spring Box Capping.ii.     Construction of 50-m3 Sandwich (Masonry) Collection Chamber

iii.     Construction of  10m Elevated (50m3 capacity Ferro-cement)

iv.    Construction of Pump & Generator house

v.      Construction of 9 Water points

vi.     Supply and lay about 11,940m different size class B, G1 pipelines with necessary fittings and valves.

vii.   Supply and Installation of surface centrifugal pump and Generator

viii.  Construction of Anchor Blocks

ix.    Commission and Hand Over the project to the community.

3.      The location of the project Site is in Amhara Region, North Shewa Zone, Motian Jiru Woreda, Kussaye Rural Village. It is located at about 35km from Enewari (Capital of Mortina jiru Woreda) and 185 km from Addis Ababa.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Procurement guidelines under IDA credits/ grants and is open to all eligible national contractors as defined in the guidelines.

5.      The interested contractors has to provide information, available construction tools such as, Vibrator, Mixer etc and Vehicle; experience and successful completion of similar project, Available skilled, and semi skilled man power and other relevant information as specified in the bid document.

6.      The interested bidders will be requested to offer technical and financial proposals separately as specified in the bid documents to be provided.

7.      Bids must be accompanied by bid security of not less than 1% of the total bid price in unconditional Bank guarantee or CPO or cash. They shall deliver to Amhara National Regional State Water Resources Development Bureau Regional WaSH Program Coordination Unit. Room No. 02 Bahirdar. Electronic bidding will not be permitted and late bids will be rejected. Bids shall be valid for period of 90 days after bid opening.

8.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased directly from Amhara National Regional State Water Resources Development Bureau Regional WaSH Program Coordination Unit Room No. 02, Bahir Dar upon payemtn of a non-refundable fee of ETB 200 (Two Hundred Ethiopian Birr) from the date of first announcement on The Ethiopian Herald in office hours for 30 consecutive calendar days.

9.      Bids shall be opened in the presence of official representatives of the bidders, who wish to attend at the next Government working day following bid-closing date at 8:30 A.M. local time at the Office of : Amhara National Regional State Water Resources Development Bureau, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Interested applicants may obtain further information during office hours at the office of Amhara National Regional State Water Resources Development Bureau, Regional WaSH program Coordination unit.

10.  The Bureau reserves the right to accept or reject al or parts of the bid and to annual the bidding process.
