Water Supply, Sanitation Project
Credit 3901-ET and Grant H850-ET
IFB Title – Construction of Civil Works for Engirie
& Gerbateni Rural Water Supply System in Dalule
and Erabti Woredas respectively
1. The
Afar Regional State through the
Government of Ethiopia has received credit from the World Bank
toward the cost of the Water Supply and Sanitation Project and it
intends to apply construction of part of funds to cover eligible
payments under the Contract for construction of Civil Works for
Engirie & Gerbaterni Rural Water Supply System in Dalule and Erabti
Woreda.
2. The
Afar Regional State Water Resource Bureau now invites sealed bids
from local eligible bidders for supply & Laying of Pipes and
Fittings, Trough and Pump Houses in each woreda.
3. Bidding
will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) a
procedure specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement
under IDA Credits and is open to all bidders from eligible National
Competitive Bidders as defined in the Guidelines.
4. Bids
shall be valid for a period of Ninety (90) days after Bid opening.
Bids must be accompanied by bid security not less than 2% of the
total bid price. They shall be delivered to Afar Regional, State
Water Resource Bureau Room number 3, Semera, telephone number 033
666 00 39 on or before 9:30a.m. July 23, 2009. Bids shall be opened
at 10:00 a.m. July 23, 2009 in the presence of the bidders who wish
to attend. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will
be rejected.
5. Qualification
requirements include: All General Water Works Constructors Grade 6
and above: (i) The Essential Tools, Equipments and experienced Man
power (ii) Completion of at least two similar contracts in each of
the last two years, (iii) annual turnover equal to the bid value for
Supply & Laying of Pipes and Fittings, Maintenance and
Rehabilitation of Pump & Generator Houses, Water Points, etc. in
each of the last two years. (iv) liquid assets of at least 1/3 the
contract value. Additional details are provided in the Bidding
Documents.
6. Complete
set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased directly from
the Afar Regional State Water Resource Bureau upon payment of a
non-refundable fee Birr 100.00 by interested bidders coming to the
address indicated below:
7. Bidders
should present renewed license for the year 2009 and VAT
registration card.
8. Afar Regional State Water Resource
Bureau reserves the right to reject all or part of the bid.
