1. This
Specific procurement Notice follows the General Procurement Notice
for this project which appeared in Development Business Issue No.
696, date 16 February 2007
2. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian has
received a loan from the African Development Fund towards the cost
of the Rural Electrification project, & intends to apply part of the
proceeds of the loan to cover eligible payments under the contracts
for the Design, Manufacture & Supply of prepaid Energy meters.
3. The
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from
prospective bidders for the Design, manufacture & Supply of 22,500
Units of prepaid Energy Meters with relevant Accessories as detailed
in the bidding documents.
4. Bidding
will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding
procedures specified in the African Development Bank Group ‘Rules &
Procedures for the Procurement of Goods and Works” Bidding is open
to all eligible suppliers.

6. Complete
sets of bidding documents in the English language may be purchased
from the above office upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Birr
1,000.00 (Birr One Thousand) or its equivalent in a freely
convertible currency for each set. Interested eligible bidders may
obtain further information & inspect the bidding documents at the
same address.
7. The
instructions to bidders & general conditions of contract contained
in the bidding documents comply with the Bank’s Standard Bidding
Documents for the procurement of Goods/Works.
8. Bids
must be delivered to the above office on or before 14:00 hour local
time on 1st June 2009 and must be accompanied by a
security of Birr 300,000(Birr Three Hundred Thousand) or its
equivalent in a freely convertible currency.
9. Bids
will be opened in the presence of bidders/representatives who chose
to attend at 15:00 hour local time on 1st June 2009 at
