Procurement of Medium Voltage Impregnated Wood Poles

1. This
invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this
project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 679 of 16
May 2006.
2. The
Federal Government of Ethiopia has received for a credit from the
International Development Association to ward the cost of
Electricity Access Expansion Project I , and it intends to apply
part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract
for procurement of Medium Voltage Impregnated Wood Poles, Tender no
EAEP4/2001.
3. The
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from
eligible and qualified bidders for the procurement of impregnated
wood poles in seven (7) lots to the seven (7) separate locations:

4. Bidding
will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding
(ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines
procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all
bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines
5. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from8:00 A.M up to
5:00 P.M from Monday to Friday
6. Bidders
are invited to bid on one or multiple lots of their choice only bids
for all poles within one lot will be evaluated. A margin of
preference for goods manufactured domestically shall be applied

7. A
complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by
interested bidders below (Address2) and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of ETB 500or in USD 50 to the Ethiopian Electric
power Corporation, procurement Division, Head Office starting from
February 27, 2009. The method of payment shall be in cash.
8. The
bidding document may also be sent by airmail or carrier service for
overseas bidders who cover all carrier costs in addition to the
above fee.
9. Bids
must be delivered to the address below (Address2) at or
before April 13,2009 at 2:00 P.M Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the
bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person. Bids will be
opened at EEPCO Head Office, Employee Club,
Degualle Square on April13,2009 at
3:00 P.M. All bids must be accompanied by the following Bid
Securities in USD or in any freely. Convertible currency or
equivalent in ETB.
