AGEREMARIAM-MOYALE ROAD REHABILTATION PROJECT
(LOT-1 AGEREMARIAM-YABELO & LOT-2 YABELO-MEGA)
GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
The Government
of Ethiopia has applied for a loan from the African Development Fund
to finance the Agreremariam-Moyale Road Rehabilitation Project.
The road project
is an important section of the Trans-African Highway, Cairo to Cape
Town and it is a link on the main Addis Ababa Nairobi-Mombassa
corridor. The implementation of the project will greatly contribute
to improving transport infrastructure among the horn and Eastern
Africa regional member Countries. The corridor will be also create
access to the sea though Mobassa port in Kenya for Ethiopia. The
civil works will be packaged into Two (2) lots to be procured on
basis of pre-qualification of contractors though International
Competitive Bidding while the consultancy service will be packaged
into Three lots to be procured on the basis of a shortlist of
qualified consulting or auditing firms.
The project
includes the following components;
i. Rehabilitation
works with Asphalt Concrete standard of a 7-meter wide carriageway
and 1.5m shoulders from Ageremariam to Mega (192km), and Lot 2:
Yabelo-Mega (97.5km). The civil works alos include two road stations
and one stop border facilities.
ii. Consultancy
Services for Construction Supervision of each lot (2 Lots) of
Agremariam-Mega Road Rehabilitation Work; and
iii. Consultancy
Services for Audit of the project.
Procurement of
goods and works shall be in accordance with the Bank’s Rules of
Procedure for the Procurement of Goods and Works. Acquisition of the
services of the consultant will follow Bank’s Rules of Procure for
the use of Consultants. Bidding documents for works and Request for
Proposals for the service are expected to be available in August
2009.
