1.      Addis Ababa Water & Sewerage Authority has got grant from the embassy of Japan to be used for the construction of Iron and Manganese removal plant.

2.      Addis Ababa Water & Sewerage Authority (hereinafter referred to as the “EMPLOYER”) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders fro the provision of Iron and manganese removal plant construction in Addis Ababa region around Gojam- Ber area.

3.      The bid documents (prepared in English Language only) shall be purchased from Procurement & Mat. Mgt office against payment of non-refundable sum of birr 200.00 during office hours upon presentation of registration certificate from Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of Ethiopia, Civil construction license showing grade, renewed trade license for the current year & VAT registration certificate.

4.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information at the office of A.A.W.S.A’s Procurement and materials management team located at Megenanga, P.O. Box 1505, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Tel. +251 116 624972, +251 116 621802, +251 116 62 0010, Fax +251 6623924 Office No. 102 on week days (office hours 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. local time in the morning and 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. local time in the afternoon.

5.      The bid shall be submitted in two separate envelopes: 1. Technical envelope, 2. Financial envelop; each having one original and one copies.

6.      The bid must be accompanied by a bid bond amounting to 2% of the bid amount in the form of a cash deposit, a certified cheque, a bank draft, an irrevocable letter of credit or a guarantee from a bank located in the country of the Employer or a foreign bank which has been determined by the bidder and country guaranteed by the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, and submitted in the tender box together with the original Technical envelope. The format of the bank guarantee shall be in accordance with the sample forms of tender security included in these bidding dossiers; other formats may be permitted, subject to the prior written approval of the Employer. Letters of credit, bank guarantees shall be valid for 30 days beyond the validity period of the bid.  

Any bid not accompanied dby an acceptable bid security will be rejected by the Employer as non-responsive.

7.      All eligibility certificates cited under No. 3 above should be found in the original Technical envelope and be submitted in the tender box on the closing date.

8.      The bid must be deposited in the tender box prepared for this purpose at or before 10:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday December 15, 2009

9.      The bid will be opened in the presence of bidders and/or their official representatives who wish to attend on Tuesday December 15, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. local time.

10.  Failure to comply with any of the conditions indicated from number 5 to 10 will result in automatic rejection.

11.  The Authority reserves the right to accept or reject the bid.
