1.      This invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, issue date of 17 August 2007.

2.       The Government of Ethiopia Enterprise has received loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of Jimma Water Supply Rehabilitation and Expansion Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payment under the Contract for construction of civil works.

3.      Jimma Town Water Supply and Sewerage Service Enterprise now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for jimma Town Water Supply Rehabilitation and Expansion project. The construction period is 730 calendar dates.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the national Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Bidding Documents.

5.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Mr. Tadele Gezahegne and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

6.      Qualifications requirements include:

The minimum required annual volume of construction work for the successful Bidder in any of the last five years shall be Birr two Million Tow Hundred Thousand (Birr 2,200,000).

Experience in the construction of at least tow works, as prime Contractor in one of them, of the nature and complexity equivalent to the works over the last 5 years (to comply with this requirement, works cited should be at least 70 percent complete).

7.       A complete set of Bidding Documents in English Language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee Birr 1,000 (ETB One Thousand). The method of payment will be casher’s cheque.

8.       Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 2.30 p.m., October 05 2009. Electronic bidding shall not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened physically in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 2.30 p.m., October 05, 2009.

9.       All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Security of not less than 2% of the total bid price in Ethiopian Birr or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
