Procurement of CT scan Machine

1.      This Invitation for Bids follows the General procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business on April 30, 2008issue No. 725.

2.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a grant from the International Development Association and other Donors toward the cost of protection of Basic Service phase I-Component 2, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the Contract for procurement of CT scan Machine.

3.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of:1 (One) CT scan Machine.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the International Completive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible Source Counties as defined in the Guidelines.

5.       Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency, Tel. + 251 11 27 51 770 or 276 32 70 or 276 32 66, Fax + 251 11 275 25 55, E-mail:pfsa@ethionet, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 8:30 am -12:30 pm and 1:30 pm-5:30 pm from Monday to Friday.

6.      Qualification requirements include:

a)      Financial Capability: Minimum average annual turnover of two times the bid price offered, over the last five years; and

b)     Experience and Technical Capacity: Having successfully completed a minimum of two contracts each of similar nature and size within the last five years and,

c)      A Valid quality system certificate issued by a recognized certifying authority (e.g. ISO, DIN, TUV, BSI, etc.) should be submitted.

7.      A complete set of bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee Ethiopian Birr 200 (Two Hundred Birr) or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. Those who want the bid document to be sent by a courier service shall pay an additional amount of ETB 515 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency for a courier service charge or send a pre paid courier service coupon. The method of payment will be in cash or Cashier’s payment Order (C.P.O) or direct deposit to pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency A/C No. CBB 01246730145 with Construction and Business Bank Piazza Branch Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

8.      Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 2:00 pm June 15th 2010. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders or representatives who choose to attend in person at the Conference Hall of pharmatiucals Fund and Supply Agency, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 2:30 June 15th 2010. Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security amounting USD 20,000 or its equivalent in a freely convertible currency.
