1.      This invitation for Bids follows the General procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business on June 12th 2009 issue No. 4044031.

2.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a grant from the International Development Association toward the cost of National Nutrition program, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the contract fro procurement of Zinc Tablets.

3.      Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of 190,680 (10x 10 unit) quantities of Zinc Tablets.

4.      Bidding will be conducted though the International Competitive Bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: procumbent under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5.      Qualifications requirements include:

a)     Financial Capability: A minimum average annual turnover of two times the bid price offered, over the last five years; and

b)     Experience and Technical Capacity: Having successfully completed a minimum of two contracts each of similar nature and size within the last five years.

6.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Pharmaceuticals fund and supply Agency, Tel. + 251 11 275 17 70/277 63 270 or 276 32 66, Fax + 251 11 275 25 55,, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 8:30 am-12:30 pm and 1:30 pm-5:30 pm from Monday to Friday.

7.      A complete set of bidding documents in English language maybe purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee Ethiopian Birr  200 (Two Hundred Birr) or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. Those who want the bid document to be sent by a courier service shall pay an additional amount of ETB. 515 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency for a courier service charge or send a pre paid courier service coupon. The method of payment will be in Cash, or Casher’s payment Order (C.P.O), or direct to pharmaceuticals Fund Supply Agency A/C No. CBB 01246-730145 with Construction and business Bank Piazza Branch, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

8.      Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 2:00 pm 20th May 2010. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders or representatives, who choose to attend in person at the Conference Ethiopia at 2:30 pm 20th May 2010. Bids must be accompanied by a bid security amounting USD 18,440
